Business Issues & Project Objectives
Our client, an international labour organisation, needed novel research on decent work opportunities and challenges in Indonesia's nickel supply chain — the world's largest nickel producer. The research was commissioned to inform an international policy forum on supply chains, social justice, and responsible business conduct in Asia and the Pacific.
Our Approach
Research plan developed plan in coordination with the client’s Indonesian office:
- Primary qualitative research with key stakeholders across the nickel supply chain, including government agencies, employer and worker organisations, enterprises, and workers
- Data analysis and synthesis identifying key trends related to decent work, formalisation, and just transition in the energy sector.
Outcome and Project Impact
A policy summary brief providing evidence-based inputs for the international policy forum on supply chains and just transition. Contributed to the knowledge base on how critical mineral supply chains intersect with labour rights, environmental sustainability, and inclusive economic growth in Indonesia.
